An operations person who can build.
I have spent 25 years working through messy problems, bringing together people, process, technology and whatever else the situation needs.
I work in operations and stay close to technology by choice and by need. Solving a problem often demands both.
20 of my 25 years have been in research operations, but my work has never fitted into one narrow box. I have worked with teams, processes, support, change, automation, data, global programs and transformation. Each has taught me a different way to look at the same question: what will make this work better?
Depending on the problem, I may ask questions, map a workflow, bring people together, inspect the data, write code, test an idea or challenge the premise. I enjoy moving between the broad view and the working detail. I am comfortable learning what I need along the way.
Still learning
Curiosity has no finish line.
I have studied mathematics, software technology, artificial intelligence and machine learning, but formal education is only one part of how I learn.
I learn by reading, building, writing, talking to people and following questions that catch my attention. Some begin at work. Others come from watching how technology changes learning, careers, families and everyday life.
Sharing knowledge is another way I help change take hold. That may mean helping someone think through a career decision, guiding project work, training a team to use AI tools or Python with greater confidence and judgment, or simply making a difficult subject easier to approach. Learning is more useful when it travels and becomes useful in someone else’s work.
What matters to me
Useful work. Human consequences. A life that fits.
I am optimistic about technology and willing to question it. What can be built is only one question. Who benefits, who is exposed, what behaviour a system rewards and who takes responsibility also matter, whether the system runs a business process or shapes everyday life.
I am comfortable making decisions without perfect information. The aim is not to remove every risk, but to understand the choices, act thoughtfully and change direction when the situation changes.
I remain ambitious, curious and hands-on. I measure progress broadly: am I learning, useful, relevant, taking care of what matters and building a life that feels honest?
